Belmont Forum Partners are organisations that subscribe to the Belmont Challenge but do not fund research and/or do not meet the criteria for membership. They may participate in Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Actions. Accession of Partners is subject to agreement by the Members. Current Belmont Forum Partners are listed below.

The S & T Alliance

The Belmont Forum is a member of the Science and Technology Alliance for Global Sustainability, an informal international partnership based on a shared commitment to make full use of the potential of science and technology to inform equitable, sustainable solutions to the most pressing questions currently confronting human kind. In addition to the Belmont Forum, the S & T Alliance is composed of:

  • the International Council for Science (ICSU)
  • the International Social Science Council (ISSC)
  • the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP)
  • the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
  • the United Nations University (UNU)
  • the World Meteorological Organization (WMO, observer).

The flagship initiative of the Alliance is Future Earth, a 10-year programme of research for global sustainability.
