Deadline extended: Extra space now available for hands-on demonstration sessions

Application deadlines have been extended to March 15 for Demonstration Sessions at the Sustainability Research & Innovation Congress 2020 (SRI2020).

A special thank you to those that have already submitted applications to be part of SRI2020’s Demonstration or Popcorn Sessions. But for those that missed the deadline, we have some good news:

We have secured extra space at the event for more Demonstration Sessions! This means we can showcase more hands-on demonstrations of your exciting, innovative technologies and hardware, visual tools, creative installations and other interactive assets for use in sustainability. Showcase a tangible product, a new tool, a game, a novel teaching technique; we are looking for imaginative solutions!

These sessions are a fantastic opportunity to generate engagement and excitement around your sustainability innovations. Get direct access to leaders in sustainability across government, science, civil society and more.

So, what’s involved?

Demonstration Sessions are flexible sessions that can be used to showcase anything from applications for decision support to games, illustrative examples of innovations, or really any technology, service or tool for the global sustainability challenge.

Demonstrations can be followed by a moderated discussion and questions from the audience, and proposals are encouraged to include interactive and innovative approaches that increase audience participation.

SRI2020 is the world’s first transdisciplinary gathering in sustainability – it will be a space of fierce advocacy for sustainability scholarship and innovation, collaboration and action. The congress is a unique opportunity for diverse audiences to connect with the global sustainability community, learn about the latest sustainability science, create novel networks and partnerships, explore new ideas, gain visibility, inspire and be inspired.

Applications close March 15, 2020

About Demonstration Sessions:

Format

  • Demonstration teams (recommended no more than 2 people/team) will be allocated a 2.5 hour time period, during which multiple demonstrations or exhibits can be scheduled, or run on a rolling basis, to make up one session.
  • Demonstration sessions will each receive a display table area within a high-traffic corridor on the main level of the venue, adjacent to meeting rooms in which concurrent sessions will be taking place.
  • Demonstration proposals are encouraged to include interactive and innovative designs that increase audience participation, such as live audience polling, social media input, and other forms of audience participation.

Requirements

  • Demonstration presenters have the flexibility to decide the length of their presentation during their designated time slot, while also allocating time for audience interaction and participation.
  • Duration of each demonstration must be no longer than 120 minutes, allowing 15 minutes on either end for set-up and tear-down.
  • Sessions must be open to all conference attendees, and amenable to this ‘pop-up’ style, whereby attendees may come and go in the open floor plan.
  • Session facilitators must submit a one-page wrap-up report, or a short video or audio file to conference organizers to sri@futureearth.org by July 15, 2020. This should summarize activities, outcomes, and future plans for sharing material or building on the session outcomes beyond the conference.
